Jim Lanier finished 18th. He breeds white dogs. Lanier is making a fashion statement, coordinating his parka and mittens with the dogs. The best teams look like mutts because they are bred strictly for performance, and include lots of different stocks. Laniers wife, Anna Bondarenko, also raced, but had to scratch because her lead dog got a sore shoulder and two of her dogs went into heat, causing the team to forget the race. Laniers lead dog in this picture has eyes on the prize. Go to full size and zoom in on the leader.
